Biography
Violeta Shopova is a 22-year-old Macedonian-Australian violinist from Sydney, Australia. She recently completed her final recital with a High Distinction in the class of Dr. Goetz Richter at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She is the recipient of multiple scholarships, including Ian Potter Emerging Artists Grant 2026, George and Margaret Henderson Scholarship 2025, and the Sandro Asinari 2010 Violin Loan, 2023. In January and February of 2025, she performed with the Macedonian Opera and Ballet in the Young Musician Program for major productions of Scheherazade, Walpurgis Night and Cavalleria Rusticana. Violeta has participated in masterclasses with Silvia Marcovici at the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria (July-August 2025), and at the Ohrid Summer Music Festival with Prof. Emilio Percan at the International Music Masterclasses (IMMC) in Ohrid, Macedonia (August 2025).
Violeta has given many public recitals including a solo recital on the 26th of September 2025, at the Women’s Club in Sydney, performing solo violin classical repertoire, compositions by Australian female composers, and piano trio repertoire. Violeta’s solo performances include several appearances at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music String and Chamber Music Lunchtime Concerts, Olli Mustonen Masterclass for Modern Composition (2024), Fintan Murphy Masterclass (2024) and string quartet masterclass with American violist, Eric Wong (May 2025). She is a passionate chamber music performer, having performed many concerts with her piano trio, Amabile Piano Trio with Channing Chu (Piano) and Rena Tang (Cello) at The Women’s Club (September 2025), the Goethe Institute Cultural Day (October 2025), the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Lunchtime Concerts (October 2025) and the Clara Schumann International Competition 2025, receiving 3rd prize for their performance of Clara Schumann’s Piano Trio in G minor. In September 2025, Violeta performed with the renowned concert violinist, Anthony Marwood in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music String Orchestra, performing the Vasks Violin Concerto “Distant Light” at ACO, On The Pier.
She has been a member of the Fames Institute Orchestra in 2023 and 2025 having performed in international festivals, recording orchestral music, and being invited to record with the Fames Project orchestra in 2025. In July 2023, she performed with the Fames Institute Chamber Orchestra at St. Sophia Church with Irina Muresanu (University of Maryland) at the 63rd Ohrid Summer Music Festival, in a string quartet at the French Embassy in Skopje, Macedonia for Bastille Day, and with the chamber orchestra in Bucharest, Romania at the National University of Music. Following this, she participated in seminar #7 with conductor, Timothy Redmond in an orchestral recording intensive (February 2025).
Violeta began playing the violin at the age of six and shortly after began studying in the class of Natasha Stojanovska in Skopje, Macedonia. In her youth, she has performed and won prizes at many Eisteddfods, such as the St George Eisteddfod. She is currently in her final semester of university at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance alongside a second major in Business Law. Additionally, she has studied with Prof. Evgeny Sorkin, Prof. Timothy Kantor and Prof. Oleg Kondratenko. Her chamber music studies include tutelage from Prof. Timothy Kantor, Prof. Daniel Yeadon and with Prof. Julian Smiles. In October 2026, Violeta will be joined by concert violinist Eva Bogoevska (Macedonia) to perform in the Inspire Music Emerging Artists Concert Series in Sydney, Australia.
